2 week appointment

Here's a picture of our little angel peacefully sleeping. Watching him sleep is so precious!
So today Wyatt had his 2 week doctor's appointment. Now we have had some troubles breastfeeding and Wyatt had lost too much weight in the first few days of life but things have been going very well since then. Because of that though we have made a few trips to the hospital for weight checks. The last weight check was last Friday and Wyatt weighed 6 lbs. 7 oz (which was only 2 oz. shy of his birth weight; weighed on the Birth Center scales). So we were expecting to weigh a bit more than his birth weight today. When we got to the appointment and had him weighed (on the clinic scale) he was 6 lbs. 3 oz!! This was quite surprising to me since feeding had been going so well lately. The doctor suggested that we get him re-weighed on the Birth Center scale so that is what we did. When we got there and weighed him there he was 6 lbs. 14 oz. on two different scales. This made a lot more sense!! Other than that little scare things went really well. Wyatt is in the 25% for head circumference and 50% for length. It would be interesting to have heard what percentile his 6 lbs. 14 oz. was; the 6 lbs. 3 oz was only in the 7% for his age and size. That's about the only new news that we have to share at this time.

Hospital Birth Announcement

I thought I would provide a link to the birth announcement that the River Falls Hospital made for Wyatt. I know that I'm a bit late getting this posted but it's kind of fun to read some of the information (like with whom Wyatt shares a birthday). Also I really like his picture. I suggest people look at some of the other baby's pictures before you look at Wyatt's and you'll see what I mean. I always laugh when I do that. So here is the link http://www.riverfallsareahospital.com/ahs/riverfalls.nsf/. Since it has been 2 weeks now (where does the time go??) Wyatt's name is a little ways down the list. Enjoy!

Going well.

Things have been going quite well at our house. Wyatt had a little trouble with feeding early on but he and I are getting the hang of things. Wyatt has also been a pretty good sleeper at night. I actually have to wake him up to make sure he gets enough to eat. That is not the case during the day. He has a tendency to "cluster" feed during the day where he wants to eat every hour to hour and a half. This is better than doing that at night but it also doesn't give me time to catch up on sleep very much. On Thursday this week Wyatt has his 2 week doctor's appointment. It will be interesting to see how much he is growing. Other than that nothing much is going on. We are both fairly content to stay home and just get to know each other.

He's here!!

Our son, Wyatt Matthew Stone, made his grand appearance last week Thursday, January 17th. He weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz and measured 20.5 inches long. So far everything has been going well. The first couple nights were pretty long and we got somewhat sleep deprived but now things are going better.

Bert and I are enjoying our little addition and trying to get the hang of being parents. It's hard to believe that Wyatt is already over a week old. It seems like I just got home from the hospital. The transition home was helped tremendously by my parents spending some time at our house. My parents helped me get laundry done, let me get some sleep when Wyatt kept me up all night, and made meals so I could focus on being a mother.

It is so nice to know that there are so many people who are wishing us well and showering us with their love. Once Wyatt is a little bit older it will be very fun to share him with all of you. Thanks again for all the love and support through my bed rest and Wyatt's birth.
