Visit to Amherst

This week Wyatt and I are in Amherst, WI (near Stevens Point). Our initial reason for coming was just to spend a week with his Grandma and Grandpa and to meet my relatives including Wyatt's great-grandparents. Unfortunately, on Saturday, my mom got a call about the time we left River Falls that her father had passed away. This allowed Wyatt to meet quite a few of my relatives but not his great-grandpa. :( Other than that our trip has been pretty fun. On Sunday we were able to get all of the Bacon great-grandchildren together for a picture (with their parents).

I was also able to take a picture of Wyatt in his preppy boy outfit.
Here is a picture of Wyatt with his great-grandma Onan.

Gotta keep this post short. I will post more from our trip to Central Wisconsin later this week.

Thumb Sucking

Every other weekend my mom comes and spends Sunday night at my house. When she is here she likes to hold Wyatt quite a bit. Yesterday was no different. Whe was sitting on the couch with Wyatt and I was next to her and we were just talking. Then all of a sudden we realize that Wyatt has his thumb in his mouth. The next things we know he is sucking on it like mad. His head was bobbing away and he was making some serious sucking sounds. It was so funny! I think the best part of it all was his other 4 fingers. They are quite long and he didn't know exactly what to do with them so while he was sucking his thumb his fingers were going everywhere. A couple times I think they got his eye. I've attached a video of him doing this below.

Thumb video

This is my attempt to post Wyatt's thumb sucking video. The video shows a little bit of what he was doing but he had been going at his thumb a lot more vigorously shortly before I captured it on video.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A friend of mine got Wyatt this cute Valentine's Day outfit (thanks Melody) so I figured that I would let him say Happy Valentine's Day in it. When I first saw it I thought "There's no way Wyatt will fit in this now" but when I put it on him this morning it fit pretty decently. Just one more piece of evidence that Wyatt is growing fast. The front of the outfit says "Heart Breaker in Training" but I really like the feet the best. It's hard not to hug my cute little man!!

Today my Aunt Holly stopped by to meet Wyatt and brought her grandson, Sam. Sam is 7 months old. It was interesting to see the difference in size between the two boys. Also I took a shot at holding both of them and I don't know how mother's of twins do it.

I'm beginning to wish that the weather would get warmer because I'm getting antsy to take Wyatt out without worrying about him getting cold. I also want to take him for a walk in his stroller so he can experience the fresh air.

First day at Church

Yeah, today we braved the cold weather and went to church with Wyatt. We bundled him up really well, had the car seat cover on the car seat (thanks to my mom for that), and a quilt on top of that. I don't think he even realized that it was cold. At church he did really well and was a big hit with the people. We went to the church where I work so there were a lot of people who wanted to meet him. Everyone commented on the cute outfit we had put him in. I call it his "preppy boy" outfit. It was the first thing I bought when I found out we were having a boy just for the purpose of him wearing it on his first day at church. It is a navy blue weater/vest with a buttoned down collar shirt and khaki pants. Unfortunately, I wasn't vigilant enough when I was changing his diaper earlier and he decided he didn't want to wear it anymore and soaked it in the way only little boys can before I was able to take any pictures of him in it. They will come eventually. During service he did very well. Daddy gave him his second bottle for the first half of service and then he was in a dreamy wakefulness the rest of the service. This basically means he was quiet pretty much the whole time. So, all in all, it was a successful trip to church.

First Bottle!

Here's Wyatt drinking his first bottle. Daddy was thrilled to be able to finally take part in feeding him. Wyatt took the bottle like a pro. He finished it a lot quicker than I expected him to. It was rather a small amount of milk (only 2 oz.) and that wasn't enough so I had to let him finish his meal the old fashioned way.

Yesterday Wyatt and I went to a Baby and Me class that is offered at the River Falls Hospital. It's a class for moms and their new babies (up to a year old) where we come together, meet other new moms and talk about things like baby massage, baby sign language and separation anxiety. It was very fun. Wyatt was the youngest (at 3 weeks) and the oldest was 8 months with 5 other babies in between.

While we were at the hospital for that class I got Wyatt weighed again to see how he was doing. I was proven correct that he is growing fast. He now weighs 7 lbs. 9 oz which is up more than 1.5 lbs. from his lowest weight of 5 lbs. 14 oz.

I have also attached a few more pictures of some of Wyatt's visitors: his Grandma Onan, Bert's Uncle John and Aunt Linda, and a few of my co-workers.

Play time!

Things sure change quickly. Wyatt has been staying awake for longer periods of time during the day. Today I placed him on his activity gym mat and he stayed awake for over an hour entertaining himself and taking in the sights. It was so much fun watching him do this. He would kick his legs around and smile at things. Oh yeah, he's smiling!! At first it was just dreamy smiles while he was sleeping but he is now smiling when he is fully awake.

Wyatt has been having many visitors. He has met, among others, his Aunts Leslie, Peggy and Sandy. This weekend Wyatt's Uncle Kyle drove up from St. Louis to meet him (unfortunately, his Aunt Marie wasn't able to make it).
