The beginning of spring

Alright, spring actually began a week and a half ago but today was the "unofficial" start of spring. Some of you may know what I'm talking about but for the rest of you I'm talking about today was Baseball's Opening Day. Wyatt and I got our Twins outfits out and watched our Minnesota Twins beat Torii Hunter and the L.A. Angels 3-2. It was a great game with one of the rookies on the Twins, Chris Gomez, got 2 hits, stole 2 bases and scored twice. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

Happy Easter!!

There's not much new to report today but we thought we would wish everyone a Happy Easter. Last weekend my mom and I colored a few eggs. It was fun to do that to help make Wyatt's first Easter a special one. Wyatt wasn't so sure about his Easter Basket though. Maybe that's because it didn't have any candy in it, just a stuffed chick. This will probably be the last year of that though.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Wyatt decided that today, his two month birthday, that he wanted to wish everyone a smiley Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I saw this cute onesie at Target the other day and had to get it. First of all he is Irish. Second of all he is just sooo kissable.

Today was also Wyatt's 8 week doctor's appointment. Again it was confirmed that our little man is getting bigger fast. He weighed in at 11 lbs. 1 oz. (45%) and was 23.5 inches long (75%) and a head circumferance of 15.5 (35%) inches. This means that he is a tall, skinny baby. That was the good part of the visit. Then he had the not so fun part. He got 4 shots and one oral vaccine. He actually didn't do too bad for the shots. Yeah he screamed when he was being given the shots but quieted down pretty quickly and even smiled for the nurse about a minute or two after the shots.

A funny thing happened at the appointment, too. When babies are weighed they are naked. Boys sometimes have a way of creating "fountains" when they don't have a diaper on. This is exactly what Wyatt did today. He decided that the office wall needed to be washed and that's what he did. Then after it happened the nurse asked him if he peed on her wall and he smiled and laughed at her. It was all very funny.

Sleeping and a Walk!!

Here is Wyatt in his carseat (which fits onto his stroller) in his winter "sack".

This week has been a good week for us at the Stone house. The first good thing that happened was that Wyatt slept through the night Monday!! I put him to bed at 10 pm and he woke up at 5 am. Unfortunately, I didn't sleep through the night because I would wake up and have a need to check on him. Then he repeated that performance last night sleeping a whole 8.5 hours (9-5:30). For some reason I am very tired today, maybe it's all the sleep I'm getting!! J/K.

The second big thing from this week is that the weather is getting nicer. That in itself is big but it was so nice and warm on Tuesday (up to 50 degrees) that Wyatt, Hawk (our Golden Retriever) and myself took a walk. It was a little wet with all of the melting going on but otherwise the sun was out. We walked to the University of River Falls Campus which was about a 2 mile walk. While we were there we got to see my Aunt Linda and Uncle Gary and a couple of my old professors. Wyatt wasn't so sure if he liked it too much but since it was a little windy I had him pretty much totally covered and he couldn't look around like he likes doing.

Visiting Bert's Family

A 4 generation picture with Bert's grandparents, mom, him and Wyatt.

Yesterday Bert, Wyatt and I took a little trip to Bloomer, WI. While we were there we visited with Bert's mom, step-dad, sister Lex, his grandparents, and his Aunt Jane. This was a very good trip. Wyatt was very good and smiley. He was smiling at everyone and just hamming it up for everyone. I guess he is pretty good natured when he has a full belly. He did get tired and fell asleep for about an hour while we were there (we were only there for about 3 hours). Also we were fed a very simple but good supper of sandwiches, homemade potato salad and cole slaw and apple crisp. Bert's mom always makes very good food and we are always spoiled with it when we go there. I was also able to take more pictures so I have included some of them here.

Work!

Yeah, I said the "W" word. I went back to work this week. One thing that eased the return was the fact that I am able to bring Wyatt with me to work. For those who don't know, I work at a church as a Youth Director so things are quite flexible in these regards. I am lucky to be able to do this because since Wyatt is only 7 weeks old I didn't want him to have to go to a daycare yet. Since I only work 20 hours a week and work only on Wed. and Thurs (and Sundays) it isn't that hard to do. It went pretty well with all things considered. Wyatt did have a pretty hard time on Wed. I think it was probably because he was in a new setting with new smells, new people, unfamiliar sleeping place (a new Pack n Play) and he became quite cranky by the end of the day (he did sleep pretty well that night though). Thursday was quite a bit better but not great. He slept more even if most of it was in my arm. As long as I have at least one arm free I can get work done but it does make typing a bit slower. I think I might try my front pack next week so I can have two hands free and let him sleep on my chest.

Also, Bert is going to school. The program he is in is an auto mechanic program that has an internship component to it. With this program he is in classes for 7-8 weeks and then goes to his internship for 8+ weeks each semester. This semesters classes started on Jan. 14th, which was only three days before Wyatt was born. This means up until now Bert has had to do a lot of studying when he was home and wasn't able to spend as much time with Wyatt as he would have liked. That all changed today: his classes have ended!! He is very happy and relieved about this and can't wait to spend more time with Wyatt.

More Visiting

Here is a 4 generation picture: my grandma, dad, me and Wyatt. So I was unable to post again last week. Wyatt and I had quite a bit of fun while visiting with my family. However, all of the running around that we did and seeing people, Wyatt got pretty run down. On Friday and most of Saturday all he did was eat and sleep, no real socializing. One night he even slept from 9 pm-3:45 am (that's almost 7 hours, now if I had only not put him down at 9). We did get to see quite a few of my dad's relatives as well as almost all of my mom's (due to the funeral). I got to visit with my cousin Crystal and her 1 year old son Evan. That was entertaining because my sister's dog, Louie, was there and him and Evan did circles around the living room chair trying to catch/sniff each other.

I was finally able to get a picture of Grandpa (my dad) holding Wyatt on my camera.
Here are the proud grandparents holding Wyatt.
Wyatt not sure if he likes dad's new clean shaven look!
